The exciting Western Cape STEAM Education conference was hosted by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) in collaboration with the Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre (GMMDC) on 6 & 7 February, 2026, in Cape Town. The conference strategically harnessed STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) to empower over 200 in-service senior phase Maths, Science, Technology and Art teachers from Western Cape’s public schools. Supported by key provincial stakeholders in education, the event fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy through expert-led workshops, innovative teaching showcases, and robust networking.
